After lightning delayed this game from starting on time, Marple Newtown and Harriton took the field.  The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but Harriton was able to escape with a 27-19 victory.

Marple Newtown grasped momentum when Tom Perpiglia came up with an interception on Harriton’s opening drive.  That interception set up a 10 yard touchdown run by Ross Binder, giving the Tigers a quick 7-0 advantage.

After a great defensive stop, Marple Newtown dialed up a pass play.  Quarterback Tommy Davis connected with A.J. Cunningham for a 65 yard touchdown pass.  The completion gave the Tigers a 13-0 lead, while also giving Davis his longest completion of the season.

Harriton answered right back with a  long 6 minute, 53 second scoring drive in the second quarter.

As the game shifted to the second half, Harrtion began to take control of the game.  After two consecutive scores, the Tigers were trailing by a score of 20-13.

The Tigers responded with another long touchdown pass by Davis.  This time it was Brian Rosborough with the completion that went 46 yards for the touchdown.

The game went down to the final minutes, however Harriton prevailed with a late score to clinch the game.

Offensively, the Tigers attack were led by Davis, Binder and Abel Hoff.  Davis finished the game 4-17 for 125 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT.  On the ground, Binder rushed 10 times for 24 yards and the Tigers first touchdown.  Hoff also contributed to the offense as he had 15 attempts for 67 yards.

Defensively, sophomores Noah Turner and Marcus Weathers were impact players.  Turner came up with a great interception, while also recording five tackles.  Weathers led the team with eight tackles.

The Tigers return home Friday, September 20th at Harry Harvey Stadium when they host Upper Darby (Youth Night) at 7 PM.
