Tiger Frosh go to 4-0

Oct 5, 2012

On a gray day in Havertown, the Marple Newtown Tigers were able to extend their winning streak to 4 in a 28 – 6 victory over the Fords. As the first half came to a close, the Tigers stretched their lead to 14–0 after a Noah Turner touchdown run and a two point conversion run by Marcus Weathers. The big play on the drive came on a long pass from Marcus Weathers to Tyler Kostack. Turner also scored earlier in the half, followed by a missed PAT. The Tigers’ defense continued to be stingy, holding the opponent scoreless even after the Fords were able to convert a fourth down fake punt.

The second half would find the Tigers scoring on the opening drive on a Mike Rutecki run, followed by a PAT as DiCamillo got back into the swing of things. Thedrive would find Nick Karaolis catching his first pass of the season from Weathers along with a deep reception by DiCamillo. Up 21 – 0, Rich Alimonti would recover a Fords fumble caused by Matt Racine and return it 70 yards for a defensive touchdown; their second of the season. DiCamillo was successful on the PAT putting the tigers ahead 28 – 0. Late in the game, the Fords were able to crack the Tigers’ defense and score a touchdown with only seconds left in the game; however, the Tigers’ defense got right back on track denying the Fords on the attempted 2-point conversion.

Abel Hoff racked up many hard fought yards, while the offensive line continues to execute their blocking. Strong defensive efforts were turned in by the linebacker crew of Matt McKee, Anthony Patrone, Travis Windle, and Gino Dicamillo. The defensive line also stood up the Fords thanks to strong games by Kyle Kelly, Tom Wier, Kieth Vancliff , Justin McKeown, and Matt Racine.

Marcus Weathers went 4 for 5 in his fourth consecutive strong game.
