The Marple Newtown Tigers play host to the Archbishop Ryan Raiders on Friday, September 4 in the season opener for both schools. The meeting at Harry Harvey Field is the first between Marple Newtown and Ryan in school history.
The Tigers look to continue the momentum from their strong 2008 finish. The Tigers return nine seniors, including captains Kevin Johnson (QB/DB) and Kevan Strigle (OL/DL).
Ryan Head Coach Frank McArdle will make his Ryan debut on Friday evening. Marple Newtown Coach Ray Gionta has faced Archbishop Ryan as a Head Coach once before, a 13-0 St. James loss to the Raiders in the 1991 Catholic League Championship Game.
