Whiteside Inks NLI with Bloomsburg

Marple Newtown senior offensive lineman Christian Whiteside will play collegiately at Bloomsburg University.  The All-Delco selection signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday and will major in Biology.
Christian earned first team All Delco and first team All-Central honors on the offensive line.  He was alson named first team All-Central for his efforts on defense and will represent the Tigers in the Hero Bowl in June.
“We are very proud of everything Christian has accomplished on and off the field,” said Coach Gionta.
Whiteside was a menacing presence for opposing defenses in the Central League.  The Tigers ground attack, with gained over 2,000 yards, ran behind the 6’2″, 265-pound lineman  frequently.  Chrisian was named team most valuable player for his efforts.
Bloomsburg is no stranger to quality offensive lineman.  Frankford product Jahri Evans, a 2006 Bloomsburg graduate, now stars for the New Orleans Saints.  The Huskies finished 10-3 in 2010 under Coach Danny Hale.  Hale enters his 19th season as the Huskies head man in 2011.
