JV shines against Harriton under the lights

By 9 October, 2012No Comments

The Tigers Junior Varsity visited Harriton High on Monday and came out with a 13-6 victory over the JV Rams.

The teams played a scoreless first half, but the Tigers found the end zone in the third quarter.  Brian Brosko’s touchdown run and Apostle’s extra point put Marple Newtown up 7-0.

Harriton answered, but the Tigers defense held their ground and the lead by thwarting the Rams two-point conversion attempt.  Marple Newtown put together another scoring drive that ate up a good portion of the fourth quarter clock and ended with another touchdown run by Brosko to complete the 13-6 win.

Quarterback Gurjeet Rai completed several key passes and picked up an important first down late on the ground to help pace the Tigers offense.  Lucas Maas and Brosko saw the bulk of the carries for the Tigers ground game.  Chris Butler, Dylan Welsh, Vince Ciavardelli

The Tigers defense made plays throughout the night to keep the Rams offense under control.  Trevor Jones stopped a Rams scoring drive with an interception in the end zone seconds before halftime to keep the score at 0-0 entering the break.

Josh Miller, Dom Talluto, Tom McHale, Sean Furst, Liam McMonigle, Chris McCaw, Matt Leinhauser and Nick Volpi helped control the line of scrimmage, while Jake Lemaitre, Brett Mellman, Sean Seigal, Karnver Grewal, Lucas Maas and Brian Rosborough controlled the Rams passing attack.
