Seven members of the Marple Newtown football team have been honored by the All-Delco and All-Central team selections this December.

Senior leader Markos Katrakazis received second team All-Central honors and honorable mention All-Delco for his work on the Tigers offensive line.

A.J. Cunningham received multiple honors for the Tigers.  Cunningham’s play at linebacker earned the senior first team All-Central and honorable mention All-Delco.  Cunningham was named second team All-Central as a tight end, where he snagged five passes for 139 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Cunningham posted 79 tackles (38 unassisted), four pass break-ups and a pair of sacks.

Senior Zach Falcone anchored the defensive front for the Tigers.  Falcone received honorable mention All-Delco and second team All-Central.  Zach led the Tigers with 3.5 sacks and was tied for second on the team with Katrakazis with 43 tackles.

Nik Rhoads was honorable mention All-Delco & All-Central as a wide receiver.  Rhoads also garnered honorable mention for his play at linebacker (37 tackles, 3 PBUs).  Rhoads led the Tigers in receptions with 15 for 283 yards and one touchdown.

Senior Ross Binder fought through an arm injury to earn honorable mention at linebacker.  Binder intercepted a pass, forced two fumbles and recorded 28 tackles.

Adrian Sapnas had a major impact on the Tigers offense, rushing for 813 yards and seven touchdowns in just seven games.  Sapnas was named honorable mention All-Delco & All-Central.

Sophomore Abel Hoff didn’t come off the field for too many plays on offense or defense for MN in 2013.  The do-it-all back received honorable mention All-Delco & All-Central for his play on offensive and honorable mention All-Central at defensive back.

Hoff rushed for 611 yards on 130 carries, and caught another 11 balls for 195 yards.  Abel rushed for five touchdowns, and also averaged 20.8 yards on kick returns.
