Earning their stripes: 5 Tigers named to All-Academic Team

Marple Newtown is represented by five football players on the 2011 Pennsylvania Football News All-Academic Teams.
Gold team selections include senior Sean Ridinger and junior Corey Power.
Sean played offensive guard and linebacker and is making an appearance on the All-Academic team for a second time. He was a two-year starter for the Tigers and a tri-captain this past season.  Sean will be attending the U.S. Naval Academy.

Fellow linemate Corey Power also garnered Gold Team honors.  The offensive tackle and defensive end will return in 2012 to lead the Tiger linemen, after helping lead the Tigers to a playoff appearance in 2011.

Junior Joe Vegso, outside linebacker, earned Silver honors.  The two-year starter on the Tiger defense was also named second team All-Central at linebacker.

Three Tigers earned Bronze Team honors.  Senior kicker Anthony Nicolardireturns to the All-Academic team for the second time.  The second-team All-Central kicker and Steve Coyne Special Teams award winner was also a member of the Marple Newtown Soccer Team.

Senior Connor Breslin, the All-Central Center will attend West Chester University in the fall.
Junior Anthony Rosanio, a running back will return to lead the Tiger offensive attack in 2012.
