Marple Newtown visited Garnet Valley on Friday night, falling to the host Jaguars 48-13. Garnet Valley (5-0, 4-0) remains in a first place tie with Penncrest at the top of the Central League standings.
The Jags jumped to an early 14-0 lead, but Marple Newtown responded with a first quarter touchdown to cut the lead to 14-6. The Tigers Brian Brosko jumped on a muffed punt, setting up the offense on the 15-yard line. Adrian Sapnas gained 14 on the first play, and scored on play three of the drive from 1-yard out. The junior back finished with 42 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Brian Rosborough finished the scoring for the night, dashing 54 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Julian Farrer added the extra point.
Tommy Davis connected with Abel Hoff on a 65-yard completion. Hoff also carried the ball 11 times for 52 yards.
Defensively, A.J. Cunningham led with Tigers with 10 tackles. Marcus Weathers added nine tackles, Noah Turner had another six and Nik Rhoads had 5 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss.
The Tigers return home on Friday, October 4. They’ll be met by Radnor at 7P.
